Location: Dauphin County Technical School, Harrisburg, PA

Start Date: Immediate opening available

Salary: $18.00 to $20.00 per hour plus single benefits (189-day position)

Job Description:

Dauphin County Technical School is seeking a dependable and flexible individual to serve in a dual-role position as a School Bus Driver and Career and Technical Education (CTE) Teaching Assistant . This unique role supports our mission of providing a safe, inclusive, and dynamic learning environment by ensuring reliable student transportation as well as classroom support.

In your primary role as a School Bus Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and timely transport of students to and from school events, field trips, clinical sites and off campus learning experiences, maintaining a professional and respectful atmosphere while adhering to all safety regulations. This role is vital to supporting our students' access to specialized programs and career-readiness opportunities.

When not driving, you will serve as a Career and Technical Education Teaching Assistant , supporting instructors and students in hands-on technical education classrooms. Responsibilities include assisting with instructional activities, supervising student projects, maintaining equipment and materials, and helping reinforce workplace readiness skills.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid CDL with School Bus (S) and Passenger (P) endorsements
• Clean driving record and background check
• Prior experience as a school bus driver preferred
• Commitment to student safety, punctuality, and professionalism
• Ability to support diverse learners with patience and flexibility
• Familiarity with CTE fields or willingness to learn technical content

Key Responsibilities:

• Safely operate a school bus on assigned routes.
• Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle.
• Ensure student safety and enforce behavior policies during transport.
• Maintain accurate route logs and trip documentation.
• Report any mechanical issues, delays, or incidents immediately.
• Comply with all state and local traffic regulations and school policies.
• Support students in classroom, lab, and/or shop settings under teacher direction
• Provide one-on-one or small group academic and skill-based assistance
• Assist with classroom organization, materials preparation, and student supervision
• Support students with IEPs, 504s, or other special education needs
• Promote workplace readiness skills, safety, and professional conduct
• Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and specialists to meet individual student needs
