Job Description

OBJECTIVE

Mill Associate 1 is an entry-level position responsible for supporting general mill operations, including cleanup, material handling, and assisting machine operators. This role provides a foundation in mill safety, basic tools, and operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Follow all safety standards and immediately report any hazards.
• Sweep, shovel, and remove debris, wood waste, and sawdust.
• Assist with loading, flipping, pulling, and pushing lumber.
• Move, stack, flip, and sort lumber.
• Operate a full wheelbarrow and use air tools to blow out equipment and floors.
• Use hand and power tools, including circular saws or chainsaws, to break down materials.
• Begin training on basic machinery operations and processes.
• Maintain clean and safe work areas in and around the mill.
• Attend required company training and safety sessions.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
• Ability to read simple measurements and work with wood products.
• Strong attention to safety, cleanliness, and detail.
• Willingness to learn and take direction.
• Dependability and good attendance.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• No previous experience required-training provided.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Stand/walk for long periods (8+ hours/day).
• Regularly lift, push, pull, or carry up to 60 lbs.
• Work outdoors and in variable weather conditions.
• Use ladders, steps, and equipment safely.
• Ability to operate manual and powered tools.

$18.00 - $21.00 DOE
